I thought the difference between an NT or NMTB taper and BT is the double flange + vee shape, plus the trucated small end of the taper, with the thread inside the taper instead of the as the OP mentioned hub on the end, and the difference between a BT and a CAT is the CAT has two difference size keys so that orientation in the spindle is always the same.
